The proposed 2025-26 Malone Central School District budget was passed with 329 votes to 199.
The approved $72,654,643 budget represents a $192,332, or 2.65% increase over the current budget.
In addition to approving the budget proposal, voters also approved a bus purchase proposition, new capital reserve fund (2028-2032) proposition, and elected Cathy Hollinshead to the board of education.
Bus Purchase Proposition
Voters approved the proposition for the district to use $725,000 for the purchase of passenger buses and/or vans, as well as related equipment and apparatus, in line with the district’s goal to maintain a safe and efficient bus fleet. The vote was 339 to 206.
Capital Reserve Fund (2028-2032) Proposition
Voters approved the district's proposition to establish a new capital reserve fund (2028-2032) with an anticipated term of five years and a total amount of $5,000,000. This fund will be used for capital improvements to the district’s facilities, including reconstruction and renovation, roofing, asbestos abatement, heating/ventilation, masonry work, and windows. The vote was 363 to 163.
