Happy Fall! Below are some updates and reminders for the next couple of weeks.
Staff Development Days
All district students will be released on Thursday, October 30th, at 11:00 a.m. for our half-day staff development day. On Friday, October 31st, students will not be in session as faculty and staff will participate in staff development day activities.
Report Card Conferences
All district students will be released for report card conferences on Wednesday, November 12th, at 11:00 a.m. Each of our building leaders will provide specific details regarding school-based schedules to families.
Lockdown Drill
Before our Evacuation Drill, Malone Central School District will practice our district wide, state mandated “Lockdown Protocols” in all five school locations before beginning the evacuation process. This is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our students.
Evacuation Drill
Malone Central School District will be practicing our district wide "Go Home Early" Emergency Release Drill on Friday, November 7th, at all five school locations. This drill, too, is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our students. We will dismiss students to their respective evacuation sites. Each building leader will share additional information with families early next week regarding procedures for this drill. Please note that we will send a ParentSquare message on Friday when our drill begins.
This drill is designed to test our emergency preparedness and response procedures and help us identify any areas needing improvement. We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, but we believe that the safety of our students is our top priority.
If your child(ren) ride(s) a bus or walk(s) home, please be aware that they will arrive home roughly 20-30 minutes earlier than usual. We will work closely with our bus drivers to ensure that students are safely transported home in a timely manner. However, we ask that you please make any necessary arrangements should your child(ren) need to be supervised after school.
If your child(ren) is/are a parent pick-up, please arrange to pick them up 20-30 minutes earlier than usual on Friday, November 7th, at the designated evacuation site. If you cannot do so, please contact your child(ren)’s school as soon as possible so that we can make alternate arrangements for your child's safe and timely dismissal.
Finally, all after-school programs (school-run and those run by outside organizations utilizing a school building) and athletic practices will be canceled. Currently, scheduled athletic games and evening events will take place as planned. These athletes will receive more information via their Coach and Athletic Director.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Educationally yours,
Brandon J. Pelkey
Superintendent of Schools
Malone Central School District
